I LOVE MY JOB!

I had a fantastic client the other day.
She's a busy professional woman, who didn't have the time to trawl the shops looking for a present for her fiance, nor did she really know what she wanted to get him, so she called me.

After a quick chat a started to pull together ideas for a gift and fired off an email with some ideas, this totally opened up the flood gates and she started to talk about things he loves doing, and what makes him happy.

Together we put together an amazing, personal gift for him, and she didn't even need to leave her office.
She said when she first contacted me, she was cautious as she thought it was taking the personal part of gift giving away by giving the job to someone else, and that she should be doing it herself etc etc
But by using me as her Personal Shopper she was able to make it even more personal for him, and put the excitement back into the whole process of selecting a gift, and give herself some time back in the process.

This stuff makes me love my job even more, and in the spirit of giving, here's a shopping tip:

ASK FOR A DISCOUNT! It's that easy.

A lot of the time the shop assistant will actually knock a little off, or offer you a customer card that will give you the discount for that purchase and all future purchases.
(my Witchery card sits front & centre in my wallet!)

The worst they can do is say no, you're gonna buy it anyway!

The countdown is on....

With 21 days and about 20 odd minutes till Christmas, the shopping window is starting to close.

Dont be caught out last minute rushing around, that's the time you're bound to impulse buy, spend too much and stress yourself out.
Get your list ready, chuck a sickie from work and get yourself down to the stores in the quiet(er) times which are early morning and 2:30ish

Or if you really can't be bothered, have us do it for you.
Just send through an email or give me a call, and after a quick brief your Christmas shopping will be delivered straight to you without you having to hunt for a park.

A few Xmas gift ideas..

Christmas shopping.....
Most people dread it (which explains why a lot of people have a Personal Shopper do it for them!)
I'll be doing a lot of it over the next month, and wanted to share a few pressie ideas for different V.I.P's in your life.....

Your Bestie:
A cute tote bag is perfect for lazy days at the beach
Check out loads of cute stuff at www.frenchbazaar.com.au

But you just cant go wrong with Peter alexander PJ'S, guy or girl they're GORGEOUS!

Your Mum:
Needs something amazing, and foot spa probably won't cut it.
Hook her up with a gorgeous watch, i'm pretty sure my mum would loose it over this one from DKNY

Your Dad
Notoriously hard to buy for!
Check out www.redballoon.com.au for some rad experience ideas.

He'd be stoked to ride in a V8 Race car or have a golf lesson instead of the usual tie / socks / undies / Charlesworth Nuts combo

The Kiddies
Tiny shoes have always been my favourite, this could be an extension of my obsession of buying them for myself...
Converse for kiddies are too cute.

Your Man
I think this watch band thingo for iPod Nano's are pretty sweet, and super affordable!

Your Girl
Purely self indulgent, if someone could just make sure my other half see's this that would be great... SIGH
(but seriously boys, you cant go wring with shoes, even if they're not quite right she'll love the effort, just make sure the store has a good return / exchange policy)

And lastly always make sure you have a little stock pile of emergency pressies, Haighs choccies, Wine and candles usually cover all necessary bases.

Happy Shopping!

Quick Tip

Most people have way more outfits in their closet than they're aware of.

Experiment tonight - search out at least 3 new outfits

Decoding Christmas party dress codes....

The Christmas Party invites are starting to come through thick and fast.
Smart casual, cocktail, black tie, semi formal & the dreaded invite with no dress code, grrrrr
Here's a quick breakdown of dress codes & what they realistically translate to....

BLACK TIE
Formal! - think of Old Hollywood
Girls should go for cocktail style dresses (but nothing too flashy or revealing) or long evening gowns
Boys, go for the James Bond style tuxedos complete with cufflinks
SEMI-FORMAL
or 'After Five' - tuxes are not necessary, nor are long dresses.
Girls, go for a fun cocktail dress, but not to over the top.
Boys stick to dark suits and a casual skinny tie
COCKTAIL ATTIRE
Girls, go for a shorter dress with a bit of glam
Boys could rock a grey suit with a crisp white shirt
SMART CASUAL
Think of 'dinner at a nice restaurant' for this one
Girls could rock a wide leg pant with a chunky heel and a fun feminine top
Boys, a nice tailored pant with a French cuff shirt
CASUAL
Generally means anything goes.
NO DRESS CODE
In the absence of a dress code, just call and ask

Christmas shopping....

Santa is officially in the building!
With the adelaide Christmas Pageant done, it's time to start thinking about your list.

For most people, christmas shopping is cringe worthy.
Here's a few tips to make it a little easier.....

- Plan before you leave; write down the name of each person you're buying for, and work out what you want to buy them before you hit the shops.
- Write your primary gift, and a back up idea if the 1st doesn't work out for whatever reason.
- Set a clear budget, for each person. An overall budget makes it harder to break down.
- Try for the quiet times, 1st thing in the morning and straight after lunchtime.
- Shop online! Just make sure you allow for delivery times.

If all else fails, call a Personal Shopper - Thats what i'm here for!

Happy Shopping (& Merry Xmas!!)

Quick Tip

Your foot is the same length as your inner forearm – elbow crease to wrist crease - priceless info when shoe shopping in a sale!

Shopping for the person who has everything....

We all know one, the thing is to not over think it.
Think less about what they might need or like, and try to find them something original and unique.

One of my favourite online spots for interesting and different pieces is www.etsy.com it's full of hand made, vintage, and fun, individual things.
Here's a couple of my favourite gift ideas for those 'people who have everything'
Vintage luggage can be used as a display in your home, and double as storage space

An original photograph, find one that reminds you of the person you're giving it too

For the girls, a personalised cuff bracelet, select colours they've used throughout their home and love to wear
Happy shopping!
